How has 2019 been for you so far? I hope you got to celebrate the climb of some mountains tops and savoured good moments along the way. It's definitely been quite an intense one for me so far (so much for easing my way into the year) but I'm thankful for it. Im the midst of that I started thinking about what I want this project to be about. I realised the thing I cared about the most is to pursue a life of wonder, amidst the pressures and uncertainties of life... I want to remind you and myself of the wonder we so easily perceived as children - and now is so easily buried under the pressures of adulthood. I used to draw and make a lot when I was younger and in some ways I still do in my job as a graphic designer - except it's not the same, there is still deadlines, expectations and obligations attached to my creativity. I want to learn again how to play for the fun of it, to linger because the moment is worth it and discover the beauty that surrounds me. Life is fascinating but somehow so easily missed in all the activities and obligations. I don't want to miss it. I want to figure out how to live with an open heart and make it, instead of living in a constant state of overwhelm feeling the need to cover my heart up. . I want to share the tools and stories that I am exploring as I navigate through life and invite you into that process. I am excited to share more of my creative heart space with you, the things I encounter and the rhythms I adapt, hoping it will inspire you to cultivate your own heart with wonder and gets you thinking about what artful living looks like to you (you don't need to be a painter to live artfully). I have come to believe that you can't become whole without wonder... My hope is as I share my honest pursuit with you, something will resonate in your own soul, something will begin to stir again. WHERE THE LIGHT IS The warmth of the winter sun is so precious. I appreciate the rays that we get in winter time all the more because they are so rare. Today was one of those sunny days and I grabbed my camera for a lunch break of flatlay experiments. My camera is almost a year old now. I got it in spring with the desire to learn how to tell stories and capture the magic in my daily life. In recent weeks other things have taken over and my camera has been untouched for a while. Do you have something you hold dear yet it ends up buried underneath the hustle and bustle of your life? I remember how excited I was when I got the camera first and how much I used it! I think it's an art to cultivate these things longterm. To stay committed, to stay curious and to continue to grow. This impromptu session brought me so much joy and I am glad I took my camera along so this moment could happen. You probably have your own 'camera' - how are you going to cultivate the things that light your soul up? And what about your loved ones who are there in the ups and downs?
